Being a rural community has resulted in a
close collaboration of community human and fiscal resources to insure the
wise use of funds to help its peoples. The Tri-County Partnership was
organized in July 1994 to facilitate the community mini-grants program.
Fifty-four groups from the region were awarded
$108,000 to implement community projects. The purposes of the organization
are to encourage community and county groups to build stronger communities
and a healthier economy and to initiate projects that encourage
collaboration and skill building within the tri-county area. The group meets
monthly and has participated in training opportunities such as "Helping
Small Towns Survive" held at Jackson's Mill and "Sustaining Rural
Communities" held in Lincoln
County. To date Tri-County Partnership has successfully administered grant
funds totaling $299,500.
We believe that
understanding root causes is the first step to developing preventive
strategies. Having a diverse partnership enables us to examine issues from
more than one perspective.
We address a multitude
of needs in the community providing a holistic approach to community
improvement. Our partnership is composed of all segments from the
communities in our regions; we have representation from, public agencies,
low-income individuals and private business representatives.
