One of our dreams is to start getting people more engaged in thinking about, and solving local problems.
The intent of this page is to post random ideas and solutions that could be incubated to fruition.
Some ideas to get you started:
1. We would like for people to contribute ideas on saving energy - how to make your car get better gas mileage, how to spend less energy heating & lighting your home.
2. Many people leave this area despite the fact they love it here, because there are no jobs - how to we solve that?
3. Students have long bus rides would it be possible to do some fun & educational activities that would make the time more productive?
4. How can local residents prepare for the economic consequences of rising energy costs in many areas of our life? The "Three thousand mile Caesar salad" will be a thing of the past. How do we get ready for it? Do people who experienced a self-sufficient life in the past have something to teach in the present?
We'd like to know what you think about these ideas and/or our web site. Please leave your comments in this public page so we can share your thoughts with other visitors. If you would like to become involved or desire a response please email Tri-County Partners at tonyrichard@citlink.net. Thank You.

space when scrolling through messages.

Comments: About item #3: the bus rides occasionally could become safety
and/or driving lessons. A lesson plan to partially take place on the bus and
partially at the school could be devised by the elementary teachers, and
coloring book illustrations could be used to reinforce safe habits. Drivers
could emphasize for younger children the importance of pedestrian safety and
alertness as they walk to their bus stop, wait for the bus and cross the street,
complimenting them on a good job when done well. They may also include lessons
on bus-riding conduct to avoid hazards for the drivers, and prevent bullying or
violence. the Middle School and High School kids could be encouraged to watch
the driving habits of other drivers they see on the route, and apply the lessons
to how they ought to drive when they get their license. Also they could learn
about the mechanics of the bus and how to handle different kinds of emergencies
which they may run across. The National Crime Prevention Council has free,
copyable brochures available on their website on many safety subjects, and many
of them encourage kids to read or work simple math problems in an entertaining
way. Other ed. sites may have similar free or very reasonably priced materials
promoting safety. Educators should see that something like this would be
available to all the students.

Comments: Why don't we cooperate with our local extension service and make a
place where people can send in pictures or questions they have in regards to
growing their own vegetables, fruit, or nuts. Does the extension service all
ready offer this service?
